U-Kompagniet receives 100,000 Danish kroner from Central Denmark Region’s Cultural Fund

U-Kompaniet provides young, talented dancers the opportunity to experience life as a professional dancer in a dance company. In a professional context, surrounded by an experienced production team, the dancers rehearse and perform pieces choreographed by dance-artists on the stage at Archauz. Through this process, U-Kompagniet informs and equips its young dancers with the technique and skill they need to further build their careers as they become professional dancers and choreographers.

U-Kompagniet has had great success helping its dancers launch their careers: 7 of the 15 dancers from last season were accepted into professionally recognized dance schools around the world. So when the Danish Arts Council decided not to continue its support of U-Kompagniet this year, we were disappointed. This, however, did nothing to diminish the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment from the Archauz administration nor U-Kompagniet dancers. We knew the company would thrive anyway.

And so, we celebrated the news that Central Denmark Region decided to support U-Kompagniet this year, giving them the added resources needed to create this season’s work. As the only opportunity of its kind in the entire region, U-Kompagniet is a cultural element essential to the region’s future. It thereby deserves continued and additional public funding, which Archauz will continue to champion.
