Rencontres des Imbéciles

Choreographer Sayaka Kaiwa comes to Koreografisk Center Archauz as artist-in residence in Archauz’ AIR programme in connection with Archauz’ EU collaboration with Départs.

Rencontres des Imbéciles is a chronicle of events that bring the nature of identity into question.

Inspired by the writings of cultural theorist Stuart Hall, the choreographers ask the questions: What is identity? Do we possess it or are we possessed by it? To what extent does social identity create our identity? Do we posses love or are we possessed by it? Do we possess fear or does fear possess us? Do we possess power or does power possess us?

Aphasia Dance Company will create a space in which the concept of identity can be discussed and challenged.
